Join Julia Welch, curatorial research fellow, Art of Europe, to discover some of the MFA’s pastel masterworks by artists including Mary Cassatt, Edgar Degas, Edouard Manet, Jean-François Millet, Claude Monet, and Camille Pissarro on view “French Pastels: Treasures from the Vault.” During the late 19th century, avant-garde artists in France and beyond utilized innovative techniques in the versatile medium of pastel to capture fleeting effects of light and weather, and impressions of people and places in the modern world.
