The Arts

Join Katie Hanson, Assistant Curator of Paintings, Art of Europe, and curator of “French Pastels: Treasures from the Vault” to discover some of the MFA’s pastel masterworks by artists including Mary Cassatt, Edgar Degas, Edouard Manet, Jean-François Millet, Claude Monet, and Camille Pissarro on view in this special exhibition. During the late 19th century, avant-garde artists in France and beyond utilized innovative techniques in the versatile medium of pastel to capture fleeting effects of light and weather, and impressions of people and places in the modern world.

Please note, due to the popularity of this exhibition we are offering this talk at two different times on Sunday with Katie Hanson.
