Explore how the whimsical interpretation of color, pattern, and design creates complex and joyful landscapes and interiors, reminiscent of the works of Henri Matisse. Nan Hass Feldman demonstrates how she interprets her subjects using oil sticks and watercolor resist, and how she transforms these linear compositions into inventive oil paintings with playful detail and heightened color. Then, visit “Matisse in the Studio” with a new understanding this great artist’s creativity.
