The seventeenth century witnessed a changing political landscape in Europe and with it new styles of art. In this Gallery From portraits to religious scenes and domestic interiors, we will explore the many new genres of art emerging in the 1600s, and discover what the characters who populate these paintings can tell us about the societies and cultures of the era. To participate, meet in the Jean S. and Frederic A. Sharf Visitor Center.
