Sy Montgomery and Matt Patterson
Maria Palomino (lectures@neaq.org, )
The author of the beloved international bestseller "The Soul of an Octopus" now turns her attention to turtles. With artist Matt Patterson, she will share some of the heart-pounding dramas and accounts from other dedicated turtle-lovers animating their just-published book.
Montgomery and Patterson will share stories and images of extraordinary people and extraordinary turtles: The founders of the Turtle Rescue League, who care for between 250 and 1,000 injured, abandoned, or hatching turtles. Fire Chief, a 42-pound, 60-year-old wild snapping turtle, recovering (with the help of a custom wheelchair) from a spine-severing collision with a truck. Experts breeding the world’s rarest turtles for return to the wild. Suburban moms protecting native woodland turtle nests in New Hampshire.
Join us for a journey of discovery, adventure, and quiet courage, celebrating the ancient wisdom of turtles.
Doors of NEAq's Simons Theatre open at 6:00 p.m. Cash bar. The lecture begins promptly at 6:30 p.m.
