Fredie Kay, Founder and President of Suffrage100MA, will provide an overview of the suffrage movement in American history, with special attention to Massachusetts activists who paved the way for women’s suffrage, including African Americans and other marginalized groups. From 5:30-6:00, join us for a reception with light refreshments, and a special opportunity to view several of the Commonwealth Museum’s “Suffragist of the Month” display panels, created by a partnership of the Commonwealth Museum, Secretary William F. Galvin, and Suffrage100MA. Suffragists from Massachusetts and other parts of the country are featured, along with historic events, such as the Woman’s Rights Convention held in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1850. The monthly display panels started in August 2017 and will be created through August 2020, the centennial of the ratification of the 19th Amendment.
