Darcy Kuronen, Pappalardo Curator of Musical Instruments, discusses the history and design of keyboard instruments from the 1500s to the late 18th century, featuring various pieces from the Museum’s collection. Listen to a live musical demonstration to discover how these instruments differ in sound production, repertoire, and musical expression. Instruments discussed include Italian, Flemish, and French harpsichords, Italian and German clavichords, and a magnificent English piano to conclude the program.
